Coach. Author. Speaker.

Born in Inkster, Michigan and raised in Keokuk, Iowa, I now call Des Moines, Iowa my home. My journey through life and basketball has been a testament to resilience. From navigating complex family dynamics to feeling the pressure of never being “enough” for my coaches, each challenge has shaped me into the person I am today.
Founding The Dojo is my way of giving back to the basketball community and sharing the wealth of knowledge I’ve amassed over my 43 years of living and playing the game, including two decades of coaching experience. My mission is to enrich the basketball community with the invaluable practice of mindfulness. In a world filled with distractions, both on and off the court, I believe that cultivating awareness through simple daily practices like breathing exercises and mindful movement is essential for success.I’ve dedicated countless hours to training under renowned mindfulness coach George Mumford, known for his work with legendary teams like the Michael Jordan-led Bulls and the Kobe Bryant-led Lakers.
Throughout my coaching career, spanning youth, high school, and professional basketball, I’ve instilled these principles in every player I’ve worked with.As the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Des Moines North, I continue to lead by example both on and off the court. Beyond basketball, I find joy in being a father to three amazing children and embracing the beauty of nature and the outdoors. Surrounded by a supportive circle of friends, I am grateful for the love and nurturing that we share.
